Costlier Cheaper FAQ’s:

What is the Union Budget and when it is presented?

The Budget is a key financial document presented by the Finance Minister outlining the Government’s Financial Policy on February 1 every year. The Budget outlines both the payable and the receivable component of the Government and a key document that gives a true reflection of the country’s financial health. It gives a projection of the growth targets that aims to achieve balanced economic growth of the country. The Budget also looks into addressing People’s expectation and announces new policies that the Government aims to introduce.

What is interim Budget?

The Interim Budget is a temporary Budget that is announced during the election year. Typically this Budget is announced for a short period spanning from  2 to 4 months of any fiscal year. While the Union Budget is for the entire fiscal year, the interim Budget is relevant only till a new government is sworn in to power. The Interim Budget normally does not have too many future projections and normally has summary of the expenses and income of the previous year.

What’s costlier and cheaper in Budget?

Typically the budget announcement leads to difference in prices. Many commonly used items become more expensive for the consumers while some become cheaper. It is normally the outcome of the various taxes levied on the goods segments and the rollback in duties that would be announced during the Budget.

What is fiscal deficit?

The Fiscal deficit of a country is calculated by subtracting the total revenue obtained by the government in a fiscal year from the total expenditures that it incurred during the same period. For the current fiscal year, the government has put forth a budgetary target of achieving the 5.9 per cent fiscal deficit goal for FY24.
